"E-mails"
An oil painting merging traditional techniques with VR-inspired birds, where guinea fowls become metaphors for our digital messages. Birds represent our constant "hunt" for life opportunities, reflecting the excitement and anxiety of receiving new emails.
The Idea:
Every email we send is like a bird released into the wild - full of hope, anxiety, and possibility. I visualized our daily digital communications as a flock of guinea fowls, each carrying our aspirations through the virtual space.
Creative Challenge:
How do you capture the tension between traditional art and digital life? I needed to translate the nervous energy of checking our inbox into something tangible. The solution came through combining classical oil painting techniques with forms inspired by 3D VR models, creating birds that exist between the real and virtual worlds.
Execution:
The painting features vibrant guinea fowls in mid-flight, their forms oscillating between realistic oil painting and digital wireframe structures. I chose guinea fowls deliberately - these birds, traditionally known as hunting targets, perfectly symbolize how we "hunt" for opportunities in our inbox. Each bird represents an email sent into the void - some soaring with opportunity, others frozen in anticipation. Their movement across the canvas mirrors our own daily chase through digital spaces, capturing that universal moment of holding our breath after hitting 'send', when our messages, like these birds, carry our hopes into the unknown.
