"From 0 to 1" (From Nothing to Everything)
A triptych composed of three 120x120cm oil paintings that explore the mathematical and philosophical journey from zero to unity.
The Idea:
Through three interconnected canvases, I wanted to visualize the fundamental concept of creation - from void to existence. The first canvas presents a perfect circle (zero/void/universe), the second captures the dynamic evolution of yin-yang, and the third depicts the emergence of life and death as one unified cycle.
Creative Challenge:
How do you translate abstract mathematical concepts into visual poetry? I needed to bridge Eastern philosophy, mathematical theory, and human experience into a cohesive narrative. The solution came through combining cosmic symbolism with intimate human forms, creating a visual journey that speaks both to universal laws and personal transformation.
Execution:
The triptych unfolds through three distinct yet connected scenes: The first canvas features a luminous circle against a deep blue cosmos, adorned with gold particles, representing both zero and infinite possibility. The second canvas portrays the dynamic dance of creation through yin-yang symbolism. The final canvas shows a human figure with death, rendered in cosmic purples and golden hues, symbolizing the '1' - the emergence of everything from nothing, and the eternal cycle of existence. Together, they tell the story of how mathematical concepts like 0 and 1 mirror the profound journey of creation itself.
