テクノロジー [Technology]

A 65x55 cm oil painting that bridges the gap between traditional Japanese calligraphy and digital innovation, exhibited at the Tokyo show during my artist residency "By Jerry" in Japan.

The Idea:

While immersing myself in Japanese culture, I discovered fascinating parallels between calligraphy's flowing precision and the digital world as a startup founder. This intersection became the heart of my artistic exploration, merging two seemingly opposite worlds on canvas.

Creative Challenge:

My mission was to achieve something uniquely paradoxical - making traditional oil paint with a digital glow. I wanted to honor the authenticity of Japanese calligraphy while infusing it with the luminescence we associate with screen-based technology. So I studied.

So I studied again.. and again [my apologies to Japanese people, it was my first time exploring this beautiful art form]ジ

Execution:

The solution came through a methodical layering technique. Beginning with a radiant base layer that acts as the painting's inner light source, each subsequent layer of oil paint was applied to create a glowing effect that appears to illuminate from within. This technique transformed the traditional canvas into a bridge between ancient artistic practices and contemporary digital aesthetics.
